Complacent

Complacent - person is very pleased with themselves or feels that they do not need to do anything about a situation, even though the situation may be uncertain or dangerous.

Yup I've become complacent, I don't feel like I need to do anything recently any differently than I have been doing them the past year. I am still currently unemployed, have a summer class I should be working harder in (I'm still working hard but I should be making more of an effort), I have no reason to go to bed at decent hour so waking up at a certain hour is also no big deal, and creating is just a side thought. After all of this, I am okay with where I am at and am currently not doing much to change it. As a result student loan debt is piling up, I remain in my apartment for large portions of the day, school work is finished right before the deadline, and my crafting stuff looks at me and mocks me.

Elizabeth Gilbert, the author of Eat, Pray, Love, did a lecture talking about how the meaning of the words genius has changed over the years. (Special thanks to my friend Elizabeth Russell who originally posted this on her blog and introduced me to it!)

The fact is that I need to begin to show up, and I need to get my genius under control! I have a paper I have to write about Sesame Street that is due in a week and a half that I can't seem to get started. (Not as much fun as you would think to watch 10 hours of Sesame Street when you have to take notes on it and analyze it!) I want to make cards, scrapbook pages, paint, and work on the short story that I have been trying to finish for years! The fact is I need to show up and it is time for me to take control of my genius again, it's teenage angst time is over with, and now it's time to get back to business!!!
=)

P.S. - Thanks to everyone that has been sharing my Blog with others! Please keep it up, it really does motivate me and help me show up and control the genius. ;-)

I Love My Sentiments Exactaly!!!

So Thursday I went to my mailbox expecting to find the usual junk mail and bills combo, I discovered something much better though! Inside I found a large envelope from Adrienne at MSE, it was the rub-on's that I had won on her blog! Needless to say I rushed back into the house and began to play. So for the past two days I have been playing with my new Rubz, and no joke I LOVE them, and not just because they were free. Some rub-on when you peal them off of the backer sheet will stick to anything and you have no hopes of repositioning them, others have the opposite problem and seem to not want to stick to anything. MSE's are perfect, I can reposition the rub-on's if I need too, and you don't need crazy muscles to put them on. They are also made for card makers so there are phrases intended for the inside and outside of cards. I strongly encourage you to check them out.

Some of the rubz were religious themed and I don't tend to make a lot of religious cards for my friends, but since my mother works in a nursing home as a chaplin I thought that she might be able to use them, so I used up an entire sheet of rubz and will be sending these cards to her to pass out there.

I also made some cards that didn't use the rubz when I ran out of the religious ones.

The phrase on the last card, "Always & Forever" is from a MSE clear stamp set. I told you, I love them! I think this may be the most cards I have made in a long time! I hope that you enjoy them and I have a feeling with a weekend with only a little homework, new rub-on's, and bad weather I'm going to be doing a lot more cardmaking so keep your eyes peeled for more!

Oh and thanks again Adrienne!!!!!! =)

Insert Quirky Title Here

So I'm too tired to think of anything funny or cute for a title of this post. I've been sick and frankly just don't have it in me right now to be very creative. :-( I'm on the mend though and should be back to normal in a day or so. Till then I'll share some of my fun from before I got sick.

All right I admit it, My name is Liza and I have a blender pen addiction. I will try and restrain myself though and not make any more cards using my blender pen for a little while...I make no promises though. =)

Finally I did some baking before I got sick as well and made some great chocolate chip zucchini bread! My recipe made two loaves so one is hanging out in the freezer for a little while till I finish off the first one. See mom I do eat my veggies! ;-)

I was hoping to have a new weekly card (I should really rename that since I can't seem to keep up with it weekly!) up by now but with summer classes, being sick, and just plain trying to keep up with the world I've fallen way behind on that! Maybe I'll try to make it the monthly card? Lol. =)

Fourth of July Weekend and Winning Free Stuff!!!

Well it is Monday, the 5th of July...and I didn't get much sleep last night. Neighbors were setting fireworks off on and off till around 4am. I've never been a huge fan of setting off your own fireworks, and it is something that I will never do since I like the use of all 10 of my fingers, but it would be nice if my neighbors respected those of us who would like to sleep.

Anyways, my sister did spend a bit of time with me over the long weekend, and as I said she is one of my favorite people to craft with. She made several cards and an 8 1/2 x 11 page layout for a family recipe book she has been working on for a while. Here are pictures of what she created.

One of my favorite parts of when my sister comes is that she has trouble with color matching, I find this funny. This trip she happened to see the Stampin' Up catalog that my demonstrator had sent me and saw there was a color coach that tells you what colors work well together...I may have just found my Birthday present for her, lol!

Now for my contributions. I didn't get as much done as she did, I get distracted easily. I only got two cards done and one was very time consuming, but I love it and I think I will have to make more like it! I have discovered blending pens, and I am not turning back!

All right so one last note that for me is really cool! I entered a weekly contest on Adrienne Kennedy's blog where she gives away different My Sentiments Exactly products since she works there. I happened to win some rubons that are perfect for cards! Head over to her blog for great deals on MSE products every "Thrifty Thursday" and chances to win MSE products on "Freebie Friday". I love this company's stamps and have quite a few of their rubber and clear stamps! When I get the Rubz I'll be sure to share the cards that I make with them!

Now I'm off to try and get something accomplished today even though I just feel like sleeping! =)
